Social Media
Social media are media for social interaction, using highly accessible and scalable communication techniques. Social media is the use of web-based and mobile technologies to turn communication into interactive dialogue. Andreas Kaplan and Michael Haenlein also define social media as "a group of Internet-based applications that build on the ideological and technological foundations of Web 2.0, which allows the creation and exchange of user-generated content." Businesses also refer to social media as consumer-generated media (CGM). A common thread running through all definitions of social media is a blending of technology and social interaction for the co-creation of value. <Wikipedia Feb 5, 2011>

Online Marketing
Internet marketing,  also known as digital marketing,  web marketing,  online marketing,  or e-marketing,  is the marketing of products or services over the Internet., Internet marketing is considered to be broad in scope[citation needed] because it not only refers to marketing on the Internet,  but also includes marketing done via e-mail and wireless media.[citation needed] Digital customer data and electronic customer relationship management (ECRM) systems are also often grouped together under internet marketing.[citation needed], Internet marketing ties together the creative and technical aspects of the Internet,  including design,  development,  advertising,  and sales.[citation needed] Internet marketing also refers to the placement of media along many different stages of the customer engagement cycle through search engine marketing (SEM),  search engine optimization (SEO),  banner ads on specific websites,  email marketing,  and Web 2.0 strategies.[citation needed], In 2008,  The New York Times,  working with comScore,  published an initial estimate to quantify the user data collected by large Internet-based companies. Counting four types of interactions with company websites in addition to the hits from advertisements served from advertising networks,  the authors found that the potential for collecting data was up to 2, 500 times per user per month. <Wikipedia Feb 5, 2011>

소셜미디어, 온라인 마케팅의 차이는 무엇인가.. 이 두 가지 사이의 차이점을 분명히 아는(솔직히 나도 어떤게 딱히 정답이다 라고 말할 순 없지만, 분명히 이건 소셜미디어쪽보다 온라인 마케팅이다라고 부를 수 있는 활동들이 있다.) 것이 가장 먼저 해야할 일이 아닐까 생각한다.
